Fibonacci Poem

Try a Fibonacci poem: the Fibonacci progression is a mathematical formula that starts with 0 and 1 and then builds by adding numbers that are equal to the sum of the previous two numbers. The famous sequence begins as follows: 0-1-1-2-3-5-8.

A Fibonacci poem, or Fib, is a six-line poem (though, rarely, some are longer, and multiple-stanza versions are sometimes seen). Each line contains the same number of syllables as the corresponding digit in the Fibonacci sequence: 0 - 1- 1- 2- 3- 5- 8. (The unspoken first line of each Fib is silence.) —Patchwork Farm Writing Prompt

Is it really a poem? Perhaps! In any case, it is a good mental exercise to write in such a short form. Make every word count and if you want (Linda, I'm thinking of you here) rhyme a word or two for practice. Write more than one if the spirit moves you . . .

Fibonacci poem

A
Pose
Of the
Performer
Froze time, motionless.
A surge of emotion rose up.

When
The
Curtain
Fell, he slumped.
Sweats, pains, tears, bit him.
The sacrifice he made for dream.

I
Call
Upon the
Element
Of the grumpy weather
To give us a no-rain winter

The
Little
Match girl
Died at the
Corner of the street
In the early morning of charismas

Linda:

You've certainly explored this form very well. I think you may mean "Christmas" for "charismas" however!

Well done!

I can't equal your output Linda, but here are three:

Snow
falls,
rips trees,
lays down ice,
makes walkers totter
down Vancouver’s November streets.

Breath
hurts
as I
silently
walk past toboggans.
Children’s laughs punctuate the air.

Bring
peace
we say.
Remember
Christmas benefits.
Give yourself freely to others.

Fib Poems

With
so
many
choices here,
finding for yourself
a way to give back to the world.

Love
gives
flowing
grace to thee
with all the power
of a blooming springtime flower.

Light
kills
the night
with rays of the moon,
severing the ties that blind you.

I tried, but I think I failed. But hope you can bear it.

-fib poem:

Christmas,

Everyone is

Excited about,

But not everyone,

Is very excited.

A

Tree,

My giving tree,

It’s gone now,

But it's going to be,

In my heart,

Always.

A

Wedding,

Supposed to

Be celebrated

By everyone,

But

Why

Isn’t

Anyone

Celebrate?

So
hard
to do
the form of
fibonacci poem
even though it is a fun game

(*I suppose the word "poem" has one syllable—"oe", but some people say it's two—"o" "e". Which is true?)

Snow
on
the top
of the roofs
like the cream frosting
on the frozen sweet fairy cakes

your
face,
so sweet,
is like the
sunny side up egg
saying to me—have a nice day

Make
one
thousand
paper cranes
with all my blessing
to wish you healthy and happy

The
train
flew fast
while I couldn't
throw the memory
you'd embedded into my brain.

He
lost
in the
jealous swirl
spinning round and round
no way of striving for escape

Planes
broke
the clouds
as my heart
was torn in pieces
falling into the blue abyss
