To me, a friend is a kaleidoscope. I am what he/she is and vice versa. If you look closely into the lens, you would see our similarities. We reflect each other like the mirrors in a kaleidoscope. I see in my friend the images of myself, that I often disregard.By looking at my friend, I am able to notice and wipe off the dirt on my face.
To me, a friend is having a family because I can always rely on her. When I’m in trouble, I can rely on her to bail me out. And, whenever I want to tell my inner feeling, I can trust her. Or, I can cry to her, or tell my “secret lover” to her. She is my family who I can share my deepest secret, and share a laugh or a two.
To me, a friend is a beautiful and fruitful mango tree to lean on. When you can’t stand on your feet, you lean on them to support your balance. When you fall or are about to fall, you can grasp their branches to stay steady. They’re the same tree you run under to shade you when the sun is blazing. When a dog is running after you, this tree allows you to climb it so you can be safe and it offers you its fruity mango to eat to prevent you from starving.
To me, a friend is Swin Flu, contagious and infectious. When your friend is happy, you would also feel the sun is shining in the dark rainy day. When your friend starts grumbling about almost anything, you find out you are unconsciously doing the same things.
To me friend is a dictionary. Whenever I stuck in my life problems, I always approach to my friend. Sometime I get the right solution and sometime similar idea from my friend’s life experience. Without a friend, life for me as an English second language person is reading a book without dictionary.
To me a friend is like the ocean. Things can be beautiful and calm a lot of the time, but sometimes very treacherous. In an instant the clear blue water can become aggressive and disturbed. Just as a storm of emotions can effect friendships. Eventually things will tone down and the waters be put to rest. Yet the memories of the squall may never be forgotten, only healed with time. Seeing into the deeper depths of the water can be difficult and vague. Just as friends can hold secrets. The sky can be bright and clear on the surface, but far below is the unknown.
To me, a friend is the sail on my boat. He accompanies with me all the way whether the sea is stormy or calm. He pushes me forward and helps me arrive at my destination. His face full of energy usually makes me feel vigorous. But I’d rather say that a friend is better than any boat or sail, for a good friend can be a key of your mind.
To me a friend is an interesting book. The one who can make you smile and forget roughness of the life by being with him. In other words, have mental enjoyment with. Someone you can trust and who will never put you down. Someone, who will not judge you, and be there for you when you are in need. Someone, whom you always want to spend more time with, and want to know more and more about him.
To me, a friend is like a bar of chocolate. As soon as I think of it, it makes me very happy. When I feel cold, it gives me warmth; while I am getting tired, it provides me energy. But it is kind of delicate. It also can go rancid if you fail to perfectly save it.
To me a friend is a cane. It helps me move towards my dreams. Like a cane;a friend is a guide. Sometimes, a cane clears the debris on my paths. It is what keeps me up, and continue my journey whenever my legs seems to get tired and about to fall. A friend-a true companion and an ally-until I get old.
To me, friends are plain water. They are tolerant to accept me as my-honest-self in any situation; they are reliable as the most closest person except my family; they are essential to my life, maybe not juicy or strong, but I cannot survive without them.
Former adult teacher who loves island beaches. Happy homebody and family man; once devoted dog owner, now without Tashi, my Tibetan Terrier. I prefer the absurdity of the imagination to the absurdity of imagining nothing.
