Here's Brad's attempt:

He had always wanted a motorcycle, Fred had. When he got one, it turned out to be less than he’d hoped for, but, even now, it makes me smile to think of it.

Growing up in Hawaii was good for Fred. The sunsets were pretty, but the endless good weather eventually drove him away. He emigrated to Canada, Vancouver as it happens, the first chance he got.

The first spring in Vancouver, Fred had marvelled at the daffodils. After the long, grey winter with its endless (or so it seemed) rainy days the sturdy yellow heads of the daffodils waving in the breeze were such a relief! Vancouver, like Hawaii, was green all the time, but it was the seasons that made Fred happy.

You couldn’t get chocolate coated macadamia nuts as easily as back in Honolulu, but there was the coffee to make up for it. He’d never seen so many coffee shops in all his life.

But what about that motorcycle. It’s not like Fred was made of money and the machine he lusted after was, of course, a 1200 cc BMW touring model. If only he could have won that lottery prize a few weeks back! Fifteen million dollars won by some guy who ran the busy fish and chip restaurant near the Horseshoe Bay ferry. Already a millionaire, the guy was going to donate the money to charity or something.

Fred’s idea was to dip one wheel in the Pacific Ocean and then ride across Canada to do the same in the Atlantic. Fred did finally get his bike. It wasn’t the BMW, but a nice Honda GoldWing. Less expensive, but what the heck, it went fast and that’s all that mattered.

And, pretty soon, Fred had dipped his wheel over at Spanish Banks and set off, heading away from the towering Douglas Firs of Vancouver, bound for Halifax and more adventure.

A memory of a friend by Masaru Tanaka
When Fred Couples came to a prospect point of Olympic Mountain Highway, he shut off the engine of the dark chocolate coloured 1984 Hurley Davidson FXS Custom Low Rider.1984 was the year he won The Tournament Players Championship and his prize earning money had well passed 15 million dollars. He parked the motorcycle and walked toward guardrails which protecting spectators from falling off from the cliff. Dawn below the cliff he saw a small stream, surrounded by Douglas Firs, running into Pacific Ocean. Magnificent scenery, he thought. Leaning against the guardrail, he pulled a few green leaves from ground and tossed them away in the air which had became his natural habits on the golf course. Outside of the guardrail there were bunch of wild daffodils, dancing with soft breeze. Suddenly, that yellow colour reminded him his late friend Payne Stewart . “It was Hawaiian Open when Payne wore a bright yellow deerstalker for golf hat.” Fred smiled at the memory of his friend‘s sensational golf wear fashion. Fred remembered historical scene of 1999 U.S.Open. On the final 18th green, Payne had one stroke lead over Phil Mickelson and he had to make a 15-foot par pat to win. Stewart rolled in the par putt-the longest ever made on the final hole to win a U.S.Open. With a big smile, Payne thrust his fist into the air while kicking his leg out behind him. The pose became an iconic and now enshrined in bronze at Pinehurst, site of that 1999 U.S. Open. Then, Fred’s face became melancholy one by recalling his friend’s tragedy. In October of that year, Payne’s private airplane crashed in a field outside Aberdeen, South Dakota. “Poor Payne, he was only 42-years young.” Fred murmured. The accident made Fred wondered what one’s life for and whenever he thought about Payne, he could hear Payne’s voice once he said to Fred. “ Not that money is a driving force. It is an honour to play for your country.”

It was getting toward sunset and Fred stretched his back .He must had been standing there almost one hour. He shook off his head. “ Life is like a small stream dawn below. You like it or not, you have to carry on to the end of the stream, to ocean.” He turned around his Harley and drove dawn toward his home town, Seattle, Washington.

The Pacific Ocean’s scent came through the open window. She was munching a piece of chocolate when she heard Adam’s motorcycle. She dressed quickly. She went downstairs dragging the green suit-case after her. Adam smelled tooth-paste and aftershave. They rode together on the route surrounded by Douglas Firs. Hawaii is the best hiding place for two lovers. A few hours later, after flight, they were supposed to enjoy the sun set on the private beach. They were finely able to use the money .The 15 million were acquired during the biggest robbery. In the plane, a blonde stewardess bent down provocative when she offers Adam’s a glass of wine. Suddenly he felt thirstier then ever. Few minutes after staying in the washroom Adam came back with lipstick on his shirt. “Big mistake”, she thought smiling at the stewardess. After the plane landed she went to thanks the stewardess for her “kindness”. A strange smile appeared from blonde’s lips when she felt the cold blade of the knife. Like a rose through the daffodils the blood grew on her yellow suit.

Ten Favorite Words Paragraph
Suzuki and Tim are good friends. They often go golfing together. Ocean View is their favorite golf course; it is not only for its challenging but for the scenery. Facing Pacific Ocean, it is built along a mountain slope. Beside the green fairway, there stand Douglas fir line upon line. A small stream passes through the course, and several daffodils bloom by it. It is a sunny day, which they are waiting for a long time during the rain season. They made an afternoon appointment. When they meet at the club house, Suzuki asks Tim: “ have you bought 649 today?” “Not yet” Tim answers. “You should buy it today; the prize is 15million dollars” Suzuki raises his voice. “What would you do if you won?” Tim smiles at Suzuki. “I’d buy a motorcycle, a Harley Davidson” Suzuki bolts out, “how about you?” “ I’d buy a yacht, then I could sail to Hawaii” Tim laughs. The waiter puts two cups of hot chocolate on their table. This is their habit, after that, they’ll start their game.
