From our class on Thursday (Helena's example):

Show us BOREDOM

Sitting in the chair, extending his arms and legs, grasping a speechless emptiness, he smiled joylessly and moved his lips without spelling a word. Then, he stood up, walking slothfully (slowly; lazily) in the dim room – it seemed that he had something better to do than sitting in the chair. But, really he had nothing to do… He sat down again in the chair and let his arms down, listening (what other word might be used to show his “overhearing” of the clock ) to the click-click of the clock on the wall…

Other actions that show boredom:
Yawning frequently. Eyes blinking. Your head gets heavy and your chin rests on your chest.
The eyelids are drooping. Often people fidget when bored. Spinning the pen on your fingers.
When you draw just shapes and stuff on paper you are doodling. The stuff you draw is called a doodle.
Daydreaming and staring out of windows.
Getting up and leaving for the bathroom unnecessarily.

Sitting in their large classroom, Diane was fidgeting to not fall asleep during listening to the monotonous long lecture. She yawned frequently. The teacher’s voice droned. “Can this teacher change his lecturing style? ” She asked herself. She stretched her arms and legs, drank water, but nothing helped. “Having an extra brake would be a good idea,” she thought, and decided to leave the class for several minutes.

Fear

The girl was alone at home and it was dark and quiet at midnight. She woke up because of a crack. Lifting her head, she tried to hear exactly what it was. Footsteps? She couldn’t see anything. Her heart was bumping in her ears, her mouth went dry. She was trembling, and didn’t know what to do. Scream? Run or jump from the second floor? Eyes wide open, shaking, she started towards the closet. Carefully opening the door, she hid herself inside.

Listening her talk is bored. She always talked a lot of trifles and never stopped. At beginning, I listened carefully. As usual, she talked some trifles once again and spoke incoherently.I kept listening, but for a long while,I still couldn't catch any idea of her.I said no word, just listened. Gradually,I lost my patience, but I mustn't show any sign of impatience just for courtesy. Therefore,I stared out of the window. She talked and talked ,and there's no end seemed to be seen. So,I doodled on a paper. Not for long, the paper was full of things meaningless just like what she talked about. I crumbled it and threw it into the waste bin.She talked again ,and I scratched another one and threw it again. It seemed that it didn't matter whether you're impatient or not.She just talked herself like a broadcaster and never mind other's feeling. At last,I couldn't but said "I must leave now. Would you mind...."

Fear of Flying

When the aircraft hit the turbulence, the fuselage bucked and trembled. A family of three clung to their seats. All passengers stopped what they were doing and became very quiet. The fact that it was Friday the 13th, peoples’ faces went pale.
“Ladies and gentlemen, may I have your attention? This is the frequently occurrence in this area. Please fasten your seat belts,” the pilot made an announcement to calm them. The nervous atmosphere continued until the flight landed. Suddenly, everyone laughed with relief and clapped loudly.

Boredom with Bother

Sitting on the couch, his eyes were half shut, the mouth was slightly slack, the head nodded occasionally. He seemed sleepy, but he then roamed from room to room in the Dogwood Senior Center.

Astride the threshold, the door half open, he would disperse his smoke into the room. If someone complained about his manners, he would rebut them with a querulous voice and said, “I don’t believe you never smoked.”

Repeating his self-serving words, his stinking smoky mouth almost touched your ear or cheek. If you stepped back, he went forward; also when you moved aside, he paced along. His remarks were foolish. For example, he said he was tired all the time, or declared that people should treat smokers with mercy.

People ignored his comments; however, he never corrected his behavior.
