Villanelle: Technically Easy?

Well, that's what Conrad Geller thinks in the handout. Try for, at least, a couplet to work from, but writing a whole villanelle is also acceptable. Good luck!

Do you want to be free
The door opens wide
or am I the one to be

Start to count to three
Then look to the other side
Do you want to be free

can you live for me
with bowed head she cried
Or am I the one to be

The day is so fast
There is always a task.

The day is so fast,
The household choirs are many,
Can you do it prompt.

Though machines are there
The energy weakens
You end up nowhere

No matter how you rush
To do it right
The day is so fast.

The Little Mermaid

Longing the life of human beings,
you swim to the upper breach
when you see the handsome prince.

Saving him when storm hits,
you meet him by the beach,
longing the life of human beings.

Your heart beats for him ever since.
You beg the potion from the witch
when you see the handsome prince.

In exchange for human legs and skin,
you lose your voice and speech,
longing the life of human beings.

Dancing with bleeding feet,
you give your silent speech
when you see the handsome prince.

Knowing he marries the princess,
your heart hurts inch by inch.
Longing the life of human beings,
when you see the handsome prince.

Inside, outside, he shoots, he scores,
The city wonders if this may be,
This is not a game, this is war.

It’s a win we’re fighting for,
And for once make history,
Inside, outside, he shoots, he scores.

It’s not the ‘Hawks but ‘Nucks that soar,
We beat the champions clear and free,
This is not a game, this is war.
