It’s difficult to know where to start! I was in Bruges, Belgium yesterday on a glorious sunny day (19 degrees) and, since the Belgians are famous for their chocolates, I entered a shop near the main square. As my wife and daughter perused the fabulous display, we all began to notice some rather strange behaviour. A man, his wife (I assume) and another adult were taking expensive truffles and other chocolates from the displays. Nothing unusual in that, although they were using their bare hands and not the tongs set aside for that purpose. What was more surprising was they all proceeded to pop the chocolates into their mouths! My daughter swears that one of them took at least three chocolates in this way. Then, after their unofficial “taste test” they proceeded to casually walk right out the door. This in a shop that had a young fellow handing out samples from an official tasting box. Maybe a local custom, but we all reached the conclusion that they were just being rude.

Do hope you continue to write in my absence! Spent the day in Brussels today. More on that later. Take care everyone and see you when I return.
